William Quigley moves fluidly between abstraction and figuration, using words as both symbols and statements. The original "WIRE" painting sold at Art Miami in 2019 and became one of Quigley's most requested abstract commissioned 8 times. Responding to collector demand, Quigley re-rendered the WIRE in Chinese, Spanish, German, and Italian. The clients were shocked to see their commissioned phrase translated into foreign text. The multilingual interpretations, while initially surprising, proved both provocative and compelling—adding an unexpected layer of originality to each piece.
Like his 2014 abstract "do i have to explain everything to you," collectors frequently commission Quigley to repaint specific abstract works using the same text-based approach.
His work engages with art history, politics, the art business and contemporary culture, layering text, form, color choices and emotion to provoke thought and challenge convention. Quigley's paintings function as visual curious conversations—bold, reflective, and deeply rooted in the narratives that link art history to our time.
Created in 3 sizes because Quigley wanted to offer affordable but collectible investment options for art enthusiasts and friends who may struggle with the decision to own a piece of history. Making the work accessible to all. Edition of 40.
