During Art Basel Miami Beach, William Quigley met British musician Ed Sheeran amid the fair’s convergence of art, music, and cultural figures. At the time, Quigley was unfamiliar with the young performer, encountering him simply as another creative presence within the dynamic atmosphere of Miami Art Week. The two later reconnected when Sheeran performed at Stephen Talkhouse in the Hamptons. After learning more about Sheeran’s global stature, Quigley was commissioned by a woman in Boston to paint the musician, further reflecting the natural intersection of contemporary art and international music culture that often surrounds his work.
